Posted by Amalin Rosly at 22:37 0 comments
Hi guys.. I'm back with more recipes and cooking tricks! :D

Today is actually my only day off for this week since I am currently working part time every weekend of January. Luckily, it's still Thaipusam today so I can actually enjoy some free time to cook, do the laundry and also print my lecture notes. Not so free either actually but it's so much better than having to stand from 11am to 8pm during the weekend.

Anyway, let's cut to the chase and head to the recipe.

I am going to share the recipe of Gulai Ayam from my dear hometown which is Kelantan that is a must for all the kenduris and also other occasions.

So here goes:

Bahan-bahan:

Bawang merah 5 *
Bawang putih 2*
Halia besar ibu jari*
Daun kari 3 tangkai
Rempah ratus (kayu manis, pelaga, bunga lawang)
Santan
Cili kering blender
Rempah gulai ayam (gambar di bawah)
Asam jawa adabi

Gambar ni yang rempah daging sbb yang ayam dh habis. So if you ever go to Kelantan, make sure you buy this rempah banyak2 sebab serius sedap gila

Cara-cara:

1. Blender bahan bertanda *
2. Panaskan minyak, then masukkan daun kari, rempah ratus and bahan yang dah diblender tadi.
3. Masukkan cili kering blender 3 sudu, and rempah gulai. Tumis sampai pecah minyak.
4. Lepas dah pecah minyak, masukkan ayam. Renehkan dalam 15 minit bagi ayam tu rasa rempah tu semua. Tambah air sedikit kalau kering sangat.
5. Tambah garam, gula, asam jawa adabi, santan setengah kotak and air ikut banyak mana nak kuah tu.
6.  Didihkan kejap then dah siap, Kalau nak tambah potato pon bolehh.

Haa senang kan? Dalam setengah jam dah siappp.

Posted by Amalin Rosly at 04:49 0 comments
Hi tora tora kembali lagi :D

Since I have just started my sem 4, therefore the workload has not started yet hence the free time that I have to write another new recipe.

Today, I am going to give the recipe of one of my favorite dish of all time which is Ayam Masak Kurma. Hope this recipe is able to help all the bujang/married people out there that is having the I-Dont-Know-What-To-Cook-Today-Syndrome which I admittedly go through it too all the time :)))

So here goes,

P/s: This recipe is written in bahasa melayu because there are some ingredients that I dont know the english word for it and also bcs it is much easier to apprehend

Bahan-bahan:

Bawang merah kecik 5 ulas *
Bawang putih 3 ulas *
Halia besar ibu jari*
Serbuk kurma (brand papepon tak kisah)
Ayam
Potato
Santan
Rempah tumis (Kulit kayu manis, pelaga, bunga lawang)
Asam jawa adabi

Cara-cara:

1. Blender bahan bertanda * dan tumis sampai pecah minyak
6. Didihkan sampai potato lembut

And voila! There you have it. The easy peasy ayam masak kurma that goes great with telur dadar and sambal belacan

Resepi nasi lemak style bujang

Posted by Amalin Rosly at 04:47 0 comments
Hi  to anyone that stumbles upon this blog,

So, today i am going to give the recipe of how i usually cook my simple nasi lemak. I actually used to think that nasi lemak is complicated, until i learn how to do it and now it's actually one of the food i would cook when i feel lazy. I am actually doing this because some of my friends that used to stay in my house asked me to share some of the recipes i always cook everyday to give them ideas. I am actually a picky eater, so that's why I would cook something different and not what bujang people like me would usually prefer to cook everyday. But anyway, enough about me. Let's get started!

Here goes:

Bahan-bahan:
- Bawang merah kalau yang kecik tu 6 biji/ If yang besar tu satu pon dah cukup*
- Bawang putih 4 ulas*
- Halia *
- Daun pandan
- Cili kering blender*
-Udang kering*
- Ikan bilis
-Asam jawa adabi
- Cili padi 4 'ulas' eh? ke biji? ke tangkai? sorry bm dulu i tidur :P * (P/s: kalau tak suka pedas, tak letak ni pon takpe)

Cara-cara:

Untuk nasi lemak,
Biasanya sebab i guna beras cap rambutan, ratio yang i guna macam ni :

2 cup nasi = 1 cup santan= 2 1/2 cup air
+ Halia hiris nipis + daun pandan 2 helai

P/s: depends dekat beras yang korang guna jugak senanya. So pandai-pandai la agak eh

Untuk kuah dia pulak,

1. Blender bahan yang bertanda * and tambah secubit ikan bilis
2. Tumis seulas bawang merah yang dihiris nipis
3. Masukkan bahan yang blender
4. Tumis sampai pecah minyak (p/s: orang tua-tua cakap lagi lama tumis lagi sedap)
5. Tambah asam jawa setengah sudu or secukup rasa, garam, gula, serbuk cukup rasa sampai sambal tu cukup semua rasa
6. Tambah ikan bilis/sotong or pape lah yang korang nak sambalkan

P/s: Kepekatan tu depends la eh. Tambah la air if rasa pekat sangat

And... that's it! Senang je kan? So boleh la try bila-bila rasa nak makan nasi lemak malam-malam tanpa perlu g all the way to nasi lemak antarabangsa tu

My skeleton in my cupboard

Posted by Amalin Rosly at 05:40 0 comments
First and foremost, this post is not intended to draw sympathy or anything, it is just what i feel so here goes

I have a lil bit of depression since i forgot when.
Well maybe i remember, i guess it started after my mom passed away.
It really has not been easy for me to admit this, even typing it made me feel disgusted with myself

Things has not been easy to me since then
Imagine being so sad that u're on the verge of hurting yourself but then you end up crying alone and feeling so empty
That you end up able to make yourself used to the fact that you need to wipe your own tears

It gets overwhelming sometimes,
Imagine having a rubber band around your wrist,
and imagine that it has been there for so long that you feel numb to the pain,
then imagine having to pull it out,
and that's how i feel once in a while when all the emotions come to me all at once begging me to feel them,

Every other day,
I'm actually this bubbly girl that can make jokes almost about anything with my friends,
but if only people know what happens inside the room,

It has not been easy going through it,
let alone trying to make others understand about it,
hence, this post

Since it's new year, i really really hope i can handle it better this year. So if there's any advice, I would really appreciate it . And i would appreciate it some more if the advices are not cynical or judgemental. Thank you in advance :)

Getting older and cheesier

Posted by Amalin Rosly at 00:14 2 comments
When you were a kid, have you ever wondered what it feels like to be an adult? And have you ever wished to become one? I do. Or grammatically speaking, I did.

I once thought that adults knew what they were doing.
I once thought that adults knew exactly where they were going.

But as the time passes,
and what seems to be the fun time ended,
I began to see what adult really is about,

It's about making decision on your own,
and having to answer to the consequences,
also on your own,

It's about seeing things more clearly,
though it's not always a good thing,
though sometimes it means you suddenly realise the hurtful facts of something

It's about feeling more and more,
and appreciating more,
and sometimes being hurt more,

But that's life as i know throughout these 21 years

I have felt happiness,
when my mother used to cook my favorite dishes,
when my sister used to buy me my barbie dolls,
when I got my straight As result in my exams,

And i have also felt pain,
when my mother left me,
when i fought with my sister,
and when my result was too bad to be shown to anyone,

But then again, that's life as I know throughout these 21 years. The life that has taught me a lot of valuable lessons. I surely sounds cheesy and all but mann I'm really thankful for this life and I do expect so much more to live in the future.
Thanks for the fancy treat guys :D
Andd thanks to orang jauh that sponsored the birthday cakes all the way from UK :D

So yeah, Happy belated 21st birthday to me (just got the time to blog about my own birthday since I have just finished my exam :D)

This Ramadhan

Posted by Amalin Rosly at 21:18 0 comments
Well hello there. Long time no see.

It has been hectic these past few months with studies, assignments etc

Well now it's the study week and so it means extra time for meeeee weeeeeeeeeeeee (or not because my study week is only for a week *cries a bucket*)

Ramadhan this year for me has been really different from the previous ones as it's my first time staying at my own apartment which means no makcik DS to cook sahur for me anymore. So, it's all about being independent now as if i don't wake up early to cook, it will mean no sahur for the rest of the housemates and me.

Now that i have that kind of responsibility, I realised how much i forgot to appreciate my mom's effort to wake up early, cook our favorite dishes during sahur and to wake 8 children (that is not an easy job).

Meanwhile for iftar, I would cook all those dishes that would make me feel like i'm at home. You know, stuffs like nasi lemak sambal sotong, kuih butir nangka and other dishes

I really hope that this Ramadhan would be a turning point for me to be a better person as a whole. And i also hope that whatever i do will not go to waste.

Singapore Trip 101

Posted by Amalin Rosly at 06:20 0 comments
So.. I've been typing and deleting everything I'm typing for about 10 minutes before I'm actually typing this. Lol. Long-time-no-blogging-syndrome I guess.

So.. here we go.

Last few weeks I joined a trip with my Medical students friends to Singapore. The first day was actually a short trip at JB but I guess I'll post about it the next post(only if I'm rajin enough :3)

From my trip, I have listed down Singapore Trip for students 101 below:

1) Make sure to book a hotel in JB to avoid the much more pricey hotels in Singapore.

2) If you're planning to go to USS, survey the price range first and it is much better to buy the one that include the package with bus and food because:

i) The food inside USS is insanely expensive for students. So, if you have the voucher, you can save a lot.

ii) The bus that is included in the package will wait for you at both of the immigration (Malaysia and Singapore) and will not leave you like other normal bus to Singapore. Although it is a bit expensive compared to taking the express bus to Singapore, it is much more convenient. Trust me, I've experienced the normal bus and it is not fun to run from the immigration and then need to wait for another one hour for another bus because the bus already left us . Also the queue is normally long even on weekdays.

3) Make sure to bring enough mineral water from Malaysia because well you know the water there is not really mineral water but merely water treated through reverse osmosis.

4) Please please please bring an empty bottle because you'll find that the toilet there does not have pipe like in Malaysia.

5) If you're a Muslim and is finding for a mosque, you should go to Kampung Glam as you will find the Sultan Mosque there (you need to walk a bit far from the MRT station)

6) Make sure to check out Hajj Lane as that is the only place I think is affordable for you to street shopping and also to eat halal food.

7) Oh and make sure to make the Singapore Tourist Pass before you hop on the bus/MRT/LRT because the bus there won't give you your balance no matter how much you put in.

8)Don't even bother to go to Orchard road as it is pretty much like Pavillion where you can't really buy things.

9) If you have the time, try to go to Geylang as it is famous for the Malay food there.

Well, I think that's pretty much everything that you need to be prepared to visit Singapore. Honestly what I learnt from this trip is that I really love Malaysia. Not to be patriotic here, but being there really made me feel like I don't belong there and I think I know now why Allah has destined me to study in Malaysia first. He knows that I'm not ready yet :)

Lastly, here's some pictures of me and my friends in Singapore :
