Singapore Trip 101

Posted by Amalin Rosly at 06:20 0 comments
So.. I've been typing and deleting everything I'm typing for about 10 minutes before I'm actually typing this. Lol. Long-time-no-blogging-syndrome I guess.

So.. here we go.

Last few weeks I joined a trip with my Medical students friends to Singapore. The first day was actually a short trip at JB but I guess I'll post about it the next post(only if I'm rajin enough :3)

From my trip, I have listed down Singapore Trip for students 101 below:

1) Make sure to book a hotel in JB to avoid the much more pricey hotels in Singapore.

2) If you're planning to go to USS, survey the price range first and it is much better to buy the one that include the package with bus and food because:

i) The food inside USS is insanely expensive for students. So, if you have the voucher, you can save a lot.

ii) The bus that is included in the package will wait for you at both of the immigration (Malaysia and Singapore) and will not leave you like other normal bus to Singapore. Although it is a bit expensive compared to taking the express bus to Singapore, it is much more convenient. Trust me, I've experienced the normal bus and it is not fun to run from the immigration and then need to wait for another one hour for another bus because the bus already left us . Also the queue is normally long even on weekdays.

3) Make sure to bring enough mineral water from Malaysia because well you know the water there is not really mineral water but merely water treated through reverse osmosis.

4) Please please please bring an empty bottle because you'll find that the toilet there does not have pipe like in Malaysia.

5) If you're a Muslim and is finding for a mosque, you should go to Kampung Glam as you will find the Sultan Mosque there (you need to walk a bit far from the MRT station)

6) Make sure to check out Hajj Lane as that is the only place I think is affordable for you to street shopping and also to eat halal food.

7) Oh and make sure to make the Singapore Tourist Pass before you hop on the bus/MRT/LRT because the bus there won't give you your balance no matter how much you put in.

8)Don't even bother to go to Orchard road as it is pretty much like Pavillion where you can't really buy things.

9) If you have the time, try to go to Geylang as it is famous for the Malay food there.

Well, I think that's pretty much everything that you need to be prepared to visit Singapore. Honestly what I learnt from this trip is that I really love Malaysia. Not to be patriotic here, but being there really made me feel like I don't belong there and I think I know now why Allah has destined me to study in Malaysia first. He knows that I'm not ready yet :)

Lastly, here's some pictures of me and my friends in Singapore :

Resepi spaghetti tanpa menggunakan prego

Posted by Amalin Rosly at 22:39 5 comments
Patutnya tengah study organic chem sebenarnya tapi tetiba rasa rajin pulak nak share resepi spaghetti ni.

So, here we go. Early warning, I don't eat veggies. So this recipe don't have any mushrooms ke ape but you're welcome to add them okay?

Bahan-Bahan:(untuk 5-7 orang so please tukar based on amount pemakan)
3 biji bawang merah*
2 ulas bawang putih*
1 1/2 sudu kecil lada hitam*
sos cili
sos tomato
air rebusan daging
daging yang telah direbus dipotong kecil-kecil
mayonnaise
planta or any sorts of butter or marjerine
sosej

*blender bahan yang bertanda ini

Cara-cara:
1) Cairkan dua sudu besar butter. Masukkan bahan-bahan yang telah diblender. Tumis sampai wangi.

2) Pastu, masukkan sos cili dan sos tomato(amount tu agak2 based on nak kuah banyak mana)

3) Then masukkan daging dan sosej. Tambah air rebusan daging , garam, gula dan mayonnaise(around dua sudu besar). Pastu rasa lah kuah tu rasa bersalah ke rasa sayang hey ke. There you go.

Spaghetti Tanpa menggunakan prego yang sungguh jimat.

Oh and for those who wonder how to rebus spaghetti, just panaskan air cukup untuk rendam spaghetti sampai lemas, then tambah garam and butter sikit,

Ihsan gambar by mr google sebab tak pernah sempat snap gambars spaghetti ni. Asal siap masak je terus habis diibaham housemates hehe

Ok dah. I should go back to studying now. Feel free to try this super duper easy recipe :)))

Closure of 2014

Posted by Amalin Rosly at 00:59 0 comments
Sooooooo 2014 has came to an end (like 8 days already myy myy how time flies)

So how's 2014 for you? For me, it has been a  rollercoaster journey from going through last semester of IB to now becoming a pharmacy student in International Medical University.

I listed down few things I learnt from this year (Warning:It's quite lengthy but go ahead and read if you're feeling rajin :D)

In 2014, I have learnt that success requires hard work (and less procrastination). Because eventhough I've tried my best for semester 4; never had enough sleep, going to class at 7.00 a.m just to study, studying in lrc every single night and weekend, I only managed to get 35 points for my IB which is one point away from going to overseas (according to Peneraju's conditions)

I also learnt that you better die trying than not trying at all. Because eventhough I didn't get to fly, but I'm proud of myself for trying everything I can ; going to kl alone, sleeping at my friend's house that is full of cats (Allah knows how scared I am to cats), going to KMB to get reference letter from my mentor, going to KMB again to remark my paper, going to MARA and Peneraju's office to ask if they would sponsor me, charging my laptop in a toilet just to reply to University College London's email that asked for my passport copy ...

but despite all that, what's written , is written. I am destined to study in Malaysia for the time being and I learnt the value of acceptance. Allah's indeed the best planner of all :)

Another valuable lesson I learnt is that life will always brings you down and it doesn't matter how many times you fall, what matters is how many times you get back up.

A few days after I finally got a definite answer that I'm unable to fly despite getting an offer from UCL, I was tested again after getting the news that my brother was involved in a fire and he suffered a second degree burn. Wallahi that was a really tough time for me. I stayed in the hospital for almost a month taking care of my brother.

But the thing is, you know what's the rainbow after the rain that i got from this test? Seeing my brother smiling and telling stories again after he started to feel better.

And now? I'm currently studying Bachelor of Pharmacy (hons) in IMU and things are looking good for now. I will forever be thankful to Allah to those He sent to accompany me during the hard times.

Actually my 2014 is not that sad lah. I believe there are others who have had a much much harder time than me. And I also believe that Allah will test his servants so that we remember Him more, and that He misses to listen to our plead :)

Have faith that things will be okay at the end of the day. Cause it will. He promised that and He understands what a promise means :)))

Malacca- A short trip to remember

Posted by Amalin Rosly at 01:16 0 comments
So, you happen to have a week of Christmas break and you feel like going somewhere but you have a tight budget. Where would you go?

Hmmmmm

Well, I chose Malacca. Why?
Because I get to shop, eat and take beautiful photos while still following my tight budget.

What i can recommend from this trip is that whenever you visit Melaka, make sure to taste the oh so tasty "Cendol durian" besides the Malacca river, take pictures at Pantai Klebang  (which can make you look like you're in Egypt) and also to have a dinner at Restoran Ikan Bakar Sungai Duyung( because it's super cheap and tasty).

Need help in finding shoes?

Posted by Amalin Rosly at 00:10 0 comments
For women that love adventurous activities in the wood, there are definitely a long list of things that you need to consider to ensure a smooth trekking. Out of all the aspects, your comfort should be your number one priority and this, starts with your SHOES.

Yeap ladies you heard me right, SHOES

Let me tell you why.

Ever heard the word "blisters"? Most importantly, have you ever felt the excruciating pain of foot blisters?

For those who have experienced this would certainly agree that a good and comfortable pair of shoes plays a major role in preventing this from happening. This is extra important for ladies who will spend hours in the wood. So, the solution is? ....

A pair of comfortable sneakers with a slight hint of style from
 Zalora
Plus, the sneakers are super duper comfortable to run and walk in for a long distance without having you getting foot blisters.

But, what if you discovered a hidden waterfall or lake along your journey and you just wanna take a dip without ignoring your safety?

Hmmmmm....

A flip-flop of course!
Flip flops is a must to carry along especially when you are resting or about to take a dip in a lake. The best thing about flip flops is that it allows you to free your legs after a long day wearing covered shoes. Besides that, the flip flops are thin and not heavy to stuff in your backpack.

But wait..

What if you're the kind of woman who is not only adventurous, but also stylish? What's the win-win choice for you?

No worries ladies. Zalora has got the answers for you

Just imagine, you can travel in the nature admiring the beauty of flora and fauna with stylish boots the entire day. Plus, boots also has that certain element which helps boost up your confidence and mood into a positive vibe.

One blog post is definitely not enough for me to cover on the wide range of shoes in Zalora and that's why you should check out Zalora now. I guarantee that it will cater to every single needs and wants of yours.

So what are you still waiting for? Gooooooo check out Zalora nowwww !

Poem

Posted by Amalin Rosly at 04:58 1 comments
She lies awake at night,
wondering if the skies would remain dark,
wondering if it can shed some light,
and those what ifs kept her awake,
though her deepest dream is to divulge in dreams,

where pain is just a tale,
a tale she wouldn't have to know,
but how could she?

when the pain seems to be made of her,
she couldn't help but to pray for some rainbows,
pray that it could take away some of the pains,

because she's just a girl who once dreamed of a happy ending

"Allah kan ada" , kenapa nak sedih kan?

Posted by Amalin Rosly at 23:34 1 comments
It has been so long since I updated this old blog of mine. There have been so many things happening all at the same time that almost made me feel like giving up. Like I don't know if I can endure this any longer.

My first test started as soon as I received my IB result. Getting 35 points, I can't really feel happy eventhough for others it would mean that the points would have definitely passed to fly overseas. Because my story is way different than others. But still, I tried going to MARA office, Peneraju office to appeal but somehow I found a dead end. So I thought well that's it. I'm just gonna continue local then.

But then, I got an email from UCAS stating that there has been a change in my uni application and as I checked, I found out that I got an unconditional offer from my dream university, University College London. I would have jumped except for the fact that I knew my sponsor would not send me there because I didn't get 36 points.

A friend of mine motivated me to remark  my paper because I'm only one point away from getting 36. So I did. And hope starting to blossom again. While waiting for the remark, I did try contacting other scholarship but the answers all the same. It's whether the date has been closed or they didn't sponsor medical students anymore.

While waiting for the result, I was tested again as I heard the news of my big brother that suffered second degree burn when his house was burnt down due to short circuit. Watching your own brother clenching his teeth to endure the pain, I felt numb. It was really hard seeing the person you care about suffering so much and there's so little that you can do.

And the remark result came out. My result did not change and there goes my last hope to study in ucl.
Hope after hopes crushed, I started to feel hopeless. I thought maybe I'm supposed to give up then.

But wallahi, every single time that thought crossed my mind, Allah showed me how others are tested way harder than I am right now. Going to the hospital back and forth every day to take care of my brother, I saw others that are in so much more pain than what I'm going through. There are others that have to sacrifice so much more for their loved ones.

And so I realise that He's trying to teach me something through this. He's trying to show me that there are better things waiting for me. And as long as I remember that He never leave my side, I'm going to be just fine.
